Tech Startup Expo Seeks to Reboot Rochester Entrepreneurs
New event will connect aspiring technology entrepreneurs to local resources available

ROCHESTER, N.Y., – Two self-proclaimed tech nerds want to showcase the resources that make Rochester a great place for a technology startup. This fall, Tech Startup Expo presented by ESL Federal Credit Union aims to bring together individuals interested in learning more about revitalizing Rochester’s technology startup scene. Tech Startup Expo is being held on October 1 at Ballroom 384 at City Grill located on 384 East Avenue. Students, entrepreneurs, techies and business professionals are encouraged to attend. Event co-chairs Brandon and Myneco Ramirez have made it their mission to keep Rochester in the forefront of ambitious entrepreneur’s minds when thinking about starting their own businesses.

Tech Startup Expo is an educational networking event dedicated to showing technology-driven business professionals that they don’t need to leave Rochester to have a successful startup by highlighting existing services and resources available. Attendees will hear from local tech professionals, entrepreneurs and business leaders. Seminar topics include startup capital, incubator resources, finding a business partner and building the perfect team, among others.

“By encouraging entrepreneurs to stay in Rochester we hope to increase the number of technology startups in the area and boost the use of local services and products by startups, which will benefit not only businesses but will positively effect and change our community,” said Myneco Ramirez, a Tech Startup Expo co-chair.

The event’s tagline, “Let’s I/O Together” captures the spirit of collaboration that the event chairs hope attendees will glean from these seminars. I/O refers to input/output, the communication between a computer and the outside world. The expo serves as the input, providing helpful information to entrepreneurs and business professionals, and the output is great tech companies in Rochester.

Attendees will hear from ESL on how to access capital to fund your startup. Jill Bates of Crystal Clear Consulting will discuss how to build the best startup team. Jeffrey B. Powers, attorney of counsel at Simpson & Simpson, PLLC will speak on how to protect your product when laws haven’t caught up to the high-tech industry yet.

Additional sponsors include Digital Rochester, RIT’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship, PathStone Enterprise Center, Inc., and Tipping Point Communications.

“When you’re a part of the technology world you are often led to believe that the only place you can go if you want to succeed in starting your own technology business is Silicon Valley or New York City”, said Brandon Ramirez, a Tech Startup Expo co-chair. “Our mission is to cultivate Rochester’s natural entrepreneurial spirit by bringing together techies and business people, showing them that Rochester does have so much to offer and the benefits to start growing their technology businesses here.”

The expo is free to attend but requires registration. For more information on the event, registration and sponsorship opportunities, visit .
