Happy Friday techies and entrepreneurs. Today, I am sharing our personal journey that lead to the Tech Startup Expo in this little Q&A.


 

A “Tech Startup Expo” Q&A Session

Today I’m covering the Tech Startup Expo, a one day event happening on October 1, 2015 in Rochester New York. I decided to have a brief chat with one of the organizers.

Who are you (in relation to the event)?

 I’m Myneco. I founded and organized the expo. Brandon and I are the event chairs. We are really passionate about this expo because it is based on our own lives.

Briefly describe the event. Where is it and  when?

Tech Startup Expo Presented by ESL is a one day event where we invite techies and entrepreneurs just like us to find out about some of the local resources available to help them with their high tech startups. Ballroom 384 at City Grill, Rochester, NY 14607. Thursday, October 1, 2015.

What is the purpose of the Tech Expo?

Brandon and I thought in order to get the startup culture we desired we would have to move to NYC or San Francisco so we applied to companies and got job offers there. But, in March we decided instead of moving we wanted to help Rochester to become like those places so we moved downtown from Greece and started our Tech Startup Expo mission for all the other people in Rochester who may feel the same as we did.

Who should attend the event?

Entrepreneurs, techies, business professionals… Anyone in Rochester who is interested in helping and being a part of our growing tech community.

Will there be workshops? Speakers? Entertainment?

Yeap! There will be 25-minute seminars with speakers. We will continue to updates our website with the speakers and their topics. I’m excited about this. I just met with one of the speakers who showed me his presentation on patents and protecting your ideas in the tech industry. Really good info on that.

Why would someone want to participate in the event?

The information that we are providing and the companies that will be there can probably be found on the internet. But, you would come to the event so you can learn exactly what to Google and who to the look for. There is an ecosystem that you must be a part of to increase your startup’s success. We want the attendees to be face-to-face and meet these key people dedicated to helping them.

Can you give me a brief rundown of the schedule?

Sure. Check-in is from 12 to 12:30. The vendors will be available all day. Our first seminar is at 1pm. The seminars run every half hour with 5 minute break. We have a schedule on the website that will be continuously updated.

Who is giving the seminars? Are the speakers pretty good?

Some local experts. They have spent years in their fields and most have owned or have businesses of their own so they are very familiar with the space. They will be really good.
